Why my region is involved in R4R?
- Chemical industry is the most resource-intensive sector in NRW;
- Targets sustainable development through its high density of universities and research facilities;
- Promotes cooperation between science and industry to create win-win solutions for all the sectors;
- Reducing GHG emissions of at least 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels.
Resource efficiency in practice in my region
- Develop synergies and common strategies with project partners to boost innovative solutions to tackle resource-intensive’s challenges and promote ecological efficient solutions;
- Active actor in promoting flagship cooperation projects and partnerships on resource efficiency such as SPIRE, F3 Factory, INVITE and EIT Climate-KIC;
- Front-runner in bio based and alternative feed stocks for chemicals, resource efficiency in chemical processes as well as recycling and cradle-to-cradle technologies.
Key benefits for Europe
- Align regional, national and European R&D policies and agendas with a common view and strategy for Europe’s future;
- Help shape Horizon 2020 programme and feed funded projects with concrete and innovative solutions to foster growth and jobs.
