Why my region is involved in R4R?

  • Privileged hinterland connections with many companies and organizations active in the area;
  • Europe’s leading petrochemicals cluster due to its class logistics facilities, full range of chemical feedstock and the high degree of integration between the various chemical plants and storage terminals;
  • On the chemical side, Port of Rotterdam employs directly 13 000 people within 47 companies, 6 refineries, 3 industrial gas producers, 19 tank storage and 6 crude oil terminals;
  • Exciting and important sites for the research and implementation of sustainable feedstock programmes.

Resource efficiency in practice in my region

  • According to its 2030 strategy, PoR’s ambitions areto have the smallest ecological footprint per tonne-kilometre in world, shift significantly to a bio based chemical industry, develop the most modern and sustainable petrochemical and energy complex, and create carbon capture solution and storage construction;
  • In partnership with the City of Rotterdam, the PoR aims at reducing by 2025 50% of its Co2 emissions.
